Today I have a chance to join the webinar about women’s leadership, presented by YBHG. Datin Seri Panglima Datuk DR. Hajah Nuinda binti Haji Alias moderated by Assoc Prof. Dr Jamilah Ahmad. She is an amazing leader with so many tremendous achievements. I enjoyed the session very much and kind of the cup of my tea discussing the women leader, the challenges, and the characteristic of great behavior. She shared some tips to become a women leader in one hour, but I think I need more series related to that hehehhe. So here the recap of the webinar.

Basically, leadership involves using influence to achieve goals and guide an organization towards success. Without a leader, an organization may struggle to function effectively and may be prone to chaos and danger. Therefore, having a leader is important for governance and ensuring the stability of the organization. There are many definitions of leadership for example: working together to achieve common goals, a place to learn together, to pursue continuous improvement. She also added that it’s okay we made a mistake because it is a way for significant learning.

Women becoming a leader has achieved so many records like becoming president, senators, CEO, etc. Women have made significant strides in leadership positions and have proven their ability to excel in traditionally male-dominated roles. This progress demonstrates that gender should not limit anyone’s potential or career aspirations.

But have you ever figured out what is the characteristic of woman leader?

  1. Believe it or not, women leaders tend to display more transformational leadership than men. They are more motivating, inspiring, coaching, and becoming a good role model to men leader
  2. Task-focused. Women leaders tend to apply task-focused task which set the deadline for task delegation. They tend faster work with good results.

Having a clear vision and strong values that align with the community you lead is essential to becoming a qualified leader. This helps you inspire and guide others towards a common goal, and fosters trust and respect among your followers. Datuk Hajah also noted the examples of the value that might be given to the community such as humanity, inner development, and values-driven individuals to positively impact the community. Aspiring leaders should aim to embody qualities such as integrity, collaboration, accountability, respect, and excellence to become future-ready and make a meaningful impact. About the vision, leader can communicate to their community about their vision. A clear vision should be broad, able to envision and inspire to other.

The quality of leadership can be determined by some attributes including Having authenticity, believing in our self, being free from fear like failure, looking stupid, being rejected, different. Leaders should have great agility in the changing world. They have to be more aware of the environment, and global trend, the answer is to be innovative. Leaders should also have to align their vision toward team and working together. The last is they have developed wide networking, open for any relationship to increase the opportunities. It is aimed to build relationships, brand, and professional experience.

In summary, women leaders give unique contributions toward leadership. They tend to excel in communication, inclusiveness, resilience, and risk-taking in their leadership roles. These qualities can lead to more effective and successful leadership. Although we know that women can be influenced by her emotion, they must separate if they become the leader.
